'Hives' (Prints 2013)

'Hives' / hexagons are iconic of the bees environment and honey combs The sound wave pattern outlining the hive shapes is recognising the continuous humming noise the bees make and the fact that they work so hard during there life span (life-line on a heart monitor). They're work is repetitive like the engraving of the plates and printing processes used to make these prints.

Rebecca has used warm colours depicting thermal heat energy produced by the working bee. They are also reminiscent of a Summers day when bees are often around. The work also explores the seen and unseen life of the bee (in the garden / in the hive).

The prints are displayed in descending order showing a slowing down of a bee's life and the energy force gradually diminishing. Rebecca is particularly keen on promoting the honey bee which has recently been on the news reporting that their numbers are diminishing due to the introduction or
different bee.
