Based on the theme of O.C.D this project explores what is 'normal and what is abnormal' This is an honest interpretation of this disorder using complex and detailed concepts through abstract art.
'Signal'
(60 x 60cm long carved wood with acrylic paints)
'Paranoid'
(60 x 60cm long acrylic on wood)
'Frustrated'
(60 x 60cm long acrylic on wood)
'Ashamed'
(60 x 60cm long acrylic on wood)
The four pieces are designed to be displayed in a circle and are layered-up with acrylic paints. This represents the continuos, repetitive, behaviours which are exhausting, frustrating and controlling, often impacting on all aspects of the sufferers life. We all have a tendency towards O.C.D, occasionally checking up on ourselves to ensure that something has been done (like a door being locked) or that a task has been carried out to our satisfaction (may wash hands one more time), but when does this normality become the abnormal, how is this estimated and when can it be termed out-of-control. This work also looks at the cycle and the emotions that the sufferer goes through.
